NO. 92 LONG BEACH

The Kramer beach week is a tradition that started before I was born. My grandparents would rent a house and take the family for a week --- a storm came and took that house in the ocean. Grandkids started to come along and they rented a different one and I still have very clear memories at that house.

Then about twenty-five years or so ago, they bought the current house, "Pig Out Palace." It is on the sound, we all treasure the sights from the back porch, we learned to ski in the back, we would strip down and shower as little ones in the hose,  we have come to expect the same menus each year, we have grown and multiplied and now rent another house --- but we make it work and feel so lucky to share this place with my kids.  Hadley found a pair of my old flip flops in one of the closets this time and it took me back very quickly to being 8 years old. It's that kind of place....

If Hadley and a hose are in sight,  Pap Pap is going to get wet. It is a little game they play {that he started} and she thinks it is so funny -- a game that may continue for years to come.

Mom and I kayaking with Hads and Burns --- it was fun taking her out and she does exactly what I do when I am all alone on the water ---sing! Our song choices are different, but something about cruising along brings out the tunes in us both.

All I am going to say is,  Amy's homemade salsa fell on the ground and after a short pause of shock, this is what followed...

Crabbing --- no luck but she didn't know what were we doing anyways, she thought the fun was holding a string with a piece of bacon on it.

Part of the crew on the beach --- look at them in their glory! Every year takes on a little different focus --- sometimes it is boat heavy, others it is beach and bocce ball heavy, others it is moped heavy. This year it rained hard the first four days --- like nothing we have experienced while there together --- so the first day the skies parted, we plopped ourselves on the sand and sat.

Mom Mom --- she is the best, really she is. And each and every one of us feel that way about her. I was there a couple days before she got there and it was not the same until she showed up --- no, she is not on the beach or boat with us, but she is there and having her there this year was very special. It was not easy on her and I know she doesn't feel the greatest, so thanks Mom Mom for making the effort. I was packed up and driving down the road on Wednesday to come home and it hit me like a ton of bricks --- these times are few and far between and I wanted to be there with her. Sometimes those things happen and you have to act on them. So we turned around, unpacked the car and stayed for the rest of the week.

Cha Cha and Ella dancing --- look at the little kick E has going on. She has learned from the best...And the tennis in the background brings back a memory --- who remembers Cha Cha playing the tennis video game last year?

We had a dozen neon-frosted cupcakes and what better way to get rid of them then to sing "happy birthday" to everyone --- nope, it wasn't anyones birthday but we are family that likes to pretend! And the look on this girl's face tells you she can get into character and act the part of birthday girl...

The guys going out for a fishing trip ... I think they had a good time from the looks of their return.

Sweet Moss

Packing up our goodie bags before hitting the road --- a longtime tradition that Pop Pop started when we were young as one last send-off treat.

And many of you have prayed for my cousin who had a recent eye accident --- God has His hand on him and it is very evident to see the work He is doing. Not only are they hopeful that he will regain 20/20 vision with the use of a contact, but Ryan's way of handling this whole situation has been amazing to watch. Continue to pray for healing and that God will continue to use this experience to bless their lives and others.
