NO. 67 BRUISERS FOR THE BURNER

I am typing this after one full week already. As we pulled into the church parking lot on Sunday, we heard a little burp in the backseat right before Hadley threw up a week of liquid got sick. Poor thing. It hit us out of nowhere and she, being the independent sort, helped take off all of her clothes to turn around and ride home in her little undies. She questioned after cleaning up the mess, why we had to go home...sweet thing.

So whatever she had, has been passed around like hot potatoes around here. From her, to Burns, to Bobby to me and now back to Hadley & Burns for round two. Nearly everything in our house has been put in the washing machine in the past three days. We are off to the doctor tomorrow to see what we can do---although the nurse told me today, "you will have to ride this one out." I will take that and hoping this ride speeds up.

And then this little one---he has more nicknames than any 11 month old I know---now known as the Bruiser. It happened when he was doing what he likes to do best--EAT. Waffles in fact. As many know, I love old, antique things and we had to jimmie-rig our high chair (see metal clips in back). Long story short, out he fell and the high chair now lives in the garage. I fought the traditional big ole' highchair, but not anymore---my sweet one has the cutest eyes and I would prefer not to see this again anytime soon...

Day one: His forehead is swollen, his eye is black, his nose was runny and he is in Christmas pjs from his sister...he can't catch a break!

Day two: The color came out right in time for the Easter egg hunt.

Day four: I could eat him up right here. He won't put that golf club down if it is in the same room as he is.
Day Six: There are those baby blues---just a little mark to show his toughness.

So as I was leaving Hadley's school the day after this happened, a lady walking out said the best thing to me after I questioned my parenting...she told Burns, "life is tough and will be filled with lots of bumps and bruises...you will be okay." I couldn't agree more and such a great reminder that this world is tough, at any age, but the Lord is capable, his grace is sufficient and He meets us right where we are.

Burner, I love you more and more each day. Hang on tight because this will be one fun ride---because I hate to tell you, but your bike and horse are both wooden, old and probably very dangerous!
