Hunting & Gathering...

I have realized that most of our day is centered around food...preparing it, collecting it, playing with it, eating and yes, passing it through our bodies! Now, I am not one to complain about food because I love trying new recipes, always up for trying local restaurants & will pull over or travel long distances for a great farm. That being said, we are headed to the farmers market tonight for shopping and dinner. So Hadley, you get it honest.
Hadley and I picked strawberries with friends (Cat, Parker, Tracy & Alyssa) and she loved it. For everyone that I put in the bucket, she put one in her mouth. We were covered in red juice and had dirty feet by the time we left, but they are oh so sweet for breakfast!
Meal time is fun time. Hadley will sometimes join Bobby and I for breakfast, her and I eat lunch together and we all three meet at the table for dinner. She is starting to eat what we eat, mostly. She has her go to favorites...bananas, yogurt, waffles, muffins, smoothies...but she is willing to try anything. The other night she ate blackbean soup and another night salmon. You little food efficianto, you.
Why buy new toys when you can open the door of the fridge and pay for the increased power bill? I will open the door and Hadley is like a hawk crawling as fast as she can to get there before I close it again. She climbs up the one small step and hangs on (for now) until I come to get her. She pulls drinks out of the shelves and leaves them for me to find later in the day (i.e. a can of coke in the guest bathroom behind the toilet??) We tried to childproof the place but did not realize I had to do the same for our fridge!
She did the unthinkable...I did not post pictures for a reason, but the other night she dropped a surprise on us during bathtime. We were both helping with her bath when Bobby started yelling, "she pooped in the pool, she pooped in the pool!" His tone was half-laughing, half-shock & maybe half-proud. She looked at us not sure what to do and we looked back at her not knowing what to do. I honestly did not know that was physically possible, but other moms have confirmed that it does happen from time to time.
Parenthood comes with the sweetness of fresh strawberries and the stinkiness of....well, we will leave it at that!
